I made this video to test the claim that Halo 3 and NXE’s play from HD feature will severely hamper online play.
Bungie says “If people start to lose patience, you then have scenarios of players leaving parties and aborting matching because they dont want to wait. This adds to the problem, creating a cycle where more and more people have a harder time getting into the games they want to play. To avoid this negative situation, we are advising that Halo 3 players do not install the game to their HDD.” and also you’re friends will laugh at you.
Is this true, are the load times that severe, will people get tired of waiting, will HD play kill H3 multiplayer, will you’re friends laugh at you?
You be the judge and try it out for you’re self.
What I did was played 4 games before hand, as people claim that if you play H3 all day then the game is already stored on the cashe thus you will not get longer load times. Then I played H3 on live in the ranked play list. I only cut down the video to save time. I didn’t cut out any of the loading time.
I play a few games and I didn’t notice severe loading times. All of the people I talked to on live said the same thing. Most people said they wouldn’t use the HD play though because they expected a performance gain and obviously there isn’t (at least not in H3).
In fact the only gain is that you possibly save wear and tear on you’re disk and DVD drive, and it’s slightly quieter.
But like I said try it out for you’re self and see.
On a side note, there are claims of other games performing much better when copied to the HD.
